Games & Causes
We see a movement underfoot whereby more and more of us will begin helping other people, animals, the environment and all the charities that undertake incredibly important work through the games and entertainment we enjoy.
While the intersection between games and causes may not seem all that natural, we see it as a perfect fit.
Many companies have for years now integrated giving and activism into their ethos and shopping experience. Think The Body Shop®, TOMS Shoes® and Patagonia®. Even some big media and entertainment companies have aimed to help the planet or give to those in need when their products or services are purchased. Which is really great.
But not many games companies have strived to merge giving with the gaming experience and yet we think this is a natural marriage. Many people playing games have shown a propensity to give online and online giving as a whole has grown dramatically in the past few years. At the same time, non-profits have been some of the most active participants in social media, which provides a viral, low cost and easy platform for giving. Since some of the most successful games boast virtual worlds related to animals and societies, why not take it one step further and allow gamers to directly benefit those non-profits who are helping animals, people and the environment?
A new age of giving through games and entertainment is upon us and we are happy to be a part of it!
